Andres Tovar, USA Triathlon Level I, USATF Level I, 10x Pineapple Man Triathlon participant, 3x Ironman Finisher, 22x Tutti Frutti Time Trial Participant
Andres was born and raised in Cartagena, Colombia. He was a collegiate swimmer and has been an avid triathlete since 2002. He enjoys outdoor activities and sports. His athletic career began at the age of 11 with competitive swimming and he went on to take first place at the Colombian Age Group Nationals in the 100-meter breaststroke (13-14-year-old age group). Andres attended Detroit Lakes Senior HS (Detroit Lakes, MN) as a foreign exchange student where he was a member of the Varsity Football, Swimming, and Track & Field teams. He competed at the Minnesota State High School Swimming Championship, placing 1st in the “B” Final for the 100 yd Butterfly. Andres was a member of the National Championship Swim Team at IRSC and also a member of the Florida Atlantic University Swimming Team. He holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
His first Triathlon was the ESM Publix Miami Beach Sprint Triathlon in 2002. The triathlon fever gradually grew from Sprint to Olympic to ½ Iron distances, and he completed his first full Iron distance in 2010. In addition to triathlons, he has competed in CrossFit events, table tennis tournaments and road running, open water swimming, and adventure races.
Over the years, Andres has encouraged an active lifestyle through swimming, running, and triathlon events with his family, friends, and peers. He believes being involved in sports is crucial to enjoying a well-balanced lifestyle.
With 15 years of triathlon experience, Andres understands how important it is to balance your time with family, a full-time job, social life, and everyday responsibilities. His coaching philosophy is ALWAYS QUALITY over QUANTITY. Therefore, he values the athlete’s available training time and prescribes optimum training sessions to meet the athlete’s goal.

Andres is married with two children and resides in Port St. Lucie. FL.
